You Can Gamble on Your HP Arriving Soon...
I have heard from Xerox, Ricoh, and Lexmark that HP has been on a massive supply constraint. Now I don’t always believe what one manufacturer says about another as they are not always right on the mark. I decided to go ahead and take the 3 most popular HP Laserjet Printers that I deal with and see what my lead time was. Here are the 3 HP printers I choose.
HP LaserJet 2055dn (
CE459A) — Status is currently “call.” What does this mean? Generally this means that the supplier has no idea when to expect them and that we will get a random “2 week” lead-time which invariably changes.
HP Laserjet P3005DN — (
Q7815A) – Again, got the same “call status. This is fairly disconcerting if your company needs a Laserjet printer right away.
Finally I decided to check on the HP Color Laserjet 3525dn (
CC469A) — Again the same result.
Now, not everything of HP”s is on backorder. This was just 3 examples of popular models I checked on because I was simply curious. It appears the manufacturer’s are not lying. So, what do you do?
- You can wait it out if you really like to stick with HP printers. Now this is necessary for some due to software, etc… If you are in this boat, build a contingency plan for the immediate future and get ready to wait out this storm.
- You can pick comparable models from HP’s competitors. The only issue with this is that HP’s shortages are beginning to head downstream and hit the other manufacturers.
- You can give us a call and we can see what is in stock and what best meets your needs in this trying time!
