Xerox Phaser 8560MFP Issues
Some days you go out to a customer site and expect an easy install for a color laser printer or a color copier. Generally, the Xerox Phaser 8560MFP is a super easy install… except… We hooked up the copier and when we tried to put in the IP Address, the Subnet Mask and the Gateway, the copier was having connectivity issues (as evidenced by the blinking yellow light rather than the green light…) We hooked the network cables into a nearby Xerox WorkCentre 6505, and the 6505 worked perfectly with the same settings. Annoying. So, we called the 800-835-6100 number for technical support.

Went through level 1. Did you check the IP? Yes. Did you check the Gateway? Yes, Did you check the Netmask? Yes. Let’s reset the NVRAM… OK. Is that better? No. Hmmm, we’ll let Level 2 deal with this. 10 minute conversation.

Level 2 – Did you check the gateway? Yes. Let’s double check the settings. Click start, type in cmd in the search. Do you see a black pop up? Yes. OK type ipconfig… what is the default gateway? 192.168.0.1 — Just like it is on the copier. That’s weird. Is the yellow light or the green light blinking on the copier. Yellow. OK, that sounds like a hardware issue… Can you ping the ip of the device by typing in the ip address into the Windows browser? Yes, did that, nothing… We’ll dispatch a tech. 15 Minute conversation.

TOTAL TIME: 1 Hour and 30 Minutes!
Gathered info. Service call placed.
Service tech calls back about an hour later and tells us to do the following.
Under Connection Setup, Network Setup, Eternet Speed, change the value from Auto to 10 mb/ Full Duplex.
Now, we are getting ready to install the scan and print drivers. I know these have to be installed a certain way to make them work in Windows 7. I am calling a tech back on this as I know the standard driver download does not work. If I remember correctly, it is important to download and install the scan driver first and then the printer driver, not the combo driver because if you do that, it’s basically impossible to get scanning to work correctly. So, the Xerox Phaser 8560MFP works fine, but set-up is a major pain!
